EBay consignment has been damaged during shipping, what I do or reimburse the buyer must claim with USPS?

I sent an article last week, via USPS. I live in North Carolina and the buyer lives in California. Firstly, the subject has been lost somewhere in California. Unfortunately, you are responsible. Insurance is for the seller and the buyer. If something is fragile and can be damaged during transport if you should have need insurance or pay for itself. USPS will not grant credit if purchased without insurance. As a seller, it is your responsibility to get the item to the buyer as described.
