How to Research eBay’s Marketplace?

There are a lot of people out there that after they sold their excess products from their house, want to start their own part-time eBay business, because they realized that it is profitable.

The only problem with this is that they don’t know what exactly to sell. The best way to find what is good to sell on eBay and what not is to do proper research. Before you decide to invest in a product to resell on eBay it should be common sense to do proper research about that product.

You need to know if the market is already saturated and how much money you can get for that product, etc. You need to find out what buyers are ready to pay for the product you are selling. If you’re hoping to sell an item for $100.00 but the price on eBay is $70.00 then you need to rethink your strategy.

So how do you do that? How do you find out all the things you need to know? Well, you can do the research, right from eBay itself. Just go to www.ebay.com, click on the “advanced search” link that is next to the “search” button and start working.

When you are on the “advanced search” page you will see that it has a lot more choices than the standard “search” page. So, on the “advanced search”, you will put in the name of the product that you are interested in selling.

After you searched for the product that you want to sell, you will see a link that says “completed listings”. Click on that link. This search will show you what products have sold in the last 2 weeks and what products didn’t sell.

The sold products will have their price colored in green and the products that didn’t sell will have their price colored in red. Now that you know this, you can estimate at what price you can sell your products, what kind of listings the successful sellers used to sell their products (auction, buy-it-now, best offer), what templates they use and so on.

After a few hours of research, I will have collected valuable data about my product. Crucial information, which will have answered some essential questions like: -What price should I sell this product?

-What’s the average selling price?

-How should I list the product?

-Is the market saturated?

-Can I hope to make a profit?

This simple system of doing research will answer all these questions for you. From here, you can make an informed decision about whether you should sell that product or not.

If you want to answer to all this questions with just a click, you should head over to Worldwide Brands. They have an awesome online application called “The Product Sourcing Tool” that will do the market research for any product in a matter of seconds. This will save you time and effort.
