The historic election and the inauguration of Barack Obama has touched many different aspects of American life and one of them was the collection industry. Sales Obama shot for months, culminating in the election and inauguration.
If you happened to be lucky enough to have attended the inauguration in Washington DC as I n firsthand one of the things that remain etched in memory is the endless number of vendors of everything imaginable for Obama. I saw dozens of different types of shirts, sweatshirts, caps, posters, secure, buttons, magazines, newspapers, drawings, paintings, carpets, dishes, shoes, pants, etc. ..
A few days after the inauguration was walking on some streets and saw many stores surplus items and wondered what would happen to them. Certainly, could not continue selling these as they were. I decided I would say after the opening and see how sales were going.
Yes, sales have fallen to the Obama's memoir, but, surprisingly, not decreased as much as they had thought. People still buy hats, shirts, posters, etc. .. Prices fell significantly in some places, this has much to do with sales continued. People are always on sale and I am sure some had expected following the inauguration just to get a better price.
An interesting consequence of interest in objects of Obama has been increasing interest recently, some of collectibles President. Collectibles of President Kennedy, Reagan and Clinton are considered on a recovery in sales. Even President Nixon Souvenirs shows signs of renewed interest.
If you look hard enough memories to find chairs for the 19th century, as Abraham Lincoln and John Adams. Even I could see a piece of hair from George Washington recently auctioned on eBay.
President Obama has a lot to do with him regarding the economy, but at least it has had a positive effect on a small niche presidential souvenir!
